As objects become linked, they form chains. For any given object in a chain, its predecessors are those that are connected by a link that ends in the given object. Successors are those that are connected by a link that emanates from the given object. Only objects which can be linked can have predecessor and successors (activities, milestones, and benchmarks).
To view an object’s predecessors and successors, right-click on it on the canvas and select from the menu.

The Predecessors and Successors window will open.

At the very top is a list of all the resources in the project.
Any predecessors will be listed at the top. Any successors will be listed at the bottom. The selected object will be listed in the middle.
Each row is dedicated to one object:
The first column displays an icon representing what type of object is listed.
The second and third columns list the object’s description and ID respectively.
The fourth and fifth columns list the rate and distribution. To change which resource is populating the rate and distribution columns, click the down arrow button
next to Compare Resources and select the desired resource. The rate and distribution columns will populate according to the resource selected. Only one resource may be viewed at a time.
To modify resource assignments, click on the row of the desired activity to enable the rate and distribution columns.
Enter the amount or number of the resource required in the rate column. In the distribution column, choose from the dropdown button. For more info, see Assignment Options.
NOTE: If the rate column is left blank, no assignment will take place.
The sixth column lists the object’s float.
The seventh column lists the relation with the selected object, where applicable. For example, finish-to-start (FS), finish-to-finish (FF), and start-to-start (SS).
The eighth column lists the link gap between it and the selected object.
To delete the link between the selected object and a desired object, select it in the list and click the Break Link button. When the window is closed, the link will be deleted on the canvas.
